July 2025 :
Saritas Stainless Steel is taking another step towards sustainable production by expanding its solar energy capacity at its Gebze facility.
The first phase of the solar plant was commissioned in 2024, currently covering 25% of the facility's total energy demand with renewable energy. Upon the completion of the second phase in 2025, this figure is projected to increase to 55%. The plant will reach a total installed capacity of 3.18 MWp and generate approximately 3,786,000 kWh of electricity annually, meeting over half of the site's total energy needs through clean sources.
The solar investment is also expected to prevent around 1,950 tons of CO2 emissions annually, which is equivalent to the environmental contribution of approximately 172,992 trees each year.
Selcuk Saritas (General Manager of Saritas Stainless Steel) said: "At our Gebze OIZ facilities, we already employ high-efficiency production equipment and advanced process automation systems focused on energy conservation. This solar power investment represents a tangible step in reinforcing our commitment to responsible manufacturing and boosting our green steel production capacity. With this initiative, we are not only addressing today's needs but also building a sustainable roadmap for tomorrow."
Saritas Stainless Steel processes over 750,000 tonnes of stainless steel annually. The company serves a range of industries, including white goods, energy, automotive, machinery, chemicals, and shipbuilding. It exports to 74 countries and ranks among top stainless steel exporters in Turkiye.
